USP <797> is the United States Pharmacopeia standard that governs how compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) are made, setting requirements for personnel training and garbing, air quality and engineering controls, environmental monitoring, and beyond-use dating, all to protect patients from contamination, variability, and dosing error.
Every parenteral nutrition formula Pharmko prepares, TPN, IDPN, and IPN, is compounded in a USP <797>-compliant facility with ISO Class 5 primary engineering controls (laminar airflow workbench or biological safety cabinet), and reviewed and released by a licensed pharmacist before it leaves our facility. For a patient receiving nutrition directly into the bloodstream or peritoneal cavity, that standard isn't a formality, it's the line between a safe therapy and a serious infection risk.

USP <800>: Handling Hazardous Drugs Safely
USP <800> establishes the standards for safely handling hazardous drugs (HDs), covering containment engineering controls, personal protective equipment, and validated handling and cleaning procedures, to protect pharmacy personnel, patients, and the environment from unintended exposure.
